Here are the 2024 winners of Programma 2121: 7 awards among institutional subjects, large companies and participants in Programma 2121 Awards
6 February 2025From 19 to 21 March 2025, at the Barcaglione Prison in Ancona, the professional technical training course ‘Painting and Plasterboarding’ was held, part of the Programma 2121 project, aimed at the work and social reintegration of inmates and reducing the risk of recidivism. The initiative, promoted by the ‘Garante dei diritti della persona’ for the Marche Region, Giancarlo Giulianelli, and realised in cooperation with Twenty21 srl, San Marco Group SpA and Cattaneo srl, involved 25 inmates, offering them practical skills in the painting sector.
The three-day intensive course alternated theory and practice: the inmates painted interior areas of the prison, gaining hands-on experience. The project addresses the need for skilled labour in the Marche ‘Cratere’, which was hit by the 2016 earthquake. Twenty21 srl, active in post-earthquake reconstruction, offers the most deserving among the participants the possibility of employment, facilitating their reintegration into work and contributing to the reconstruction of the area.
The success of the course, as witnessed by the enthusiasm of the inmates and their willingness to work in the ‘Cratere’ area, prompted the ‘Garante dei diritti della persona’ to want to replicate the project in other prisons in the region, such as Fermo and Ascoli.
Dr. Nadia Boschi, head of Programma 2121, commented on this initiative: ‘This represents a first step for the scale-up of Programma 2121, with the aim of expanding this virtuous model to other geographies besides Milan.’
